Rediscover the enjoyment of vinyl record listening with one of Technics high-end grand class turntables, the SL-1210GR2 Direct Drive Turntable System II. Fusing Technics’ traditional analog and digital technologies, the SL-1210GR2 Direct Drive Turntable System II is the new standard in direct drive turntable systems. With a revolutionary new drive control method for smooth, accurate rotational stability and a new power supply for an exceptionally low noise floor , this new generation turntable outperforms the usual standards of its class, for rich, robust sounds and true high-fidelity listening.
Perfect for audiophiles and music enthusiasts, the Technics SL-1210GR Turntable is compatible with Ortofon Phono Cartridges. Ortofon Concorde Music Moving Magnet Phono Cartridges are a popular choice for a reliable and high-performing cartridge. Each MM cartridge in the series delivers a different sound quality that will enhance the SL-1210GR's audio performance. We particularly like the Concorde Music Red, Concorde Music Blue, and Concorde Music Bronze cartridges with the Technics turntable. The Music Red delivers a balanced dynamic sound. The Music Blue is more expansive, refined, and detailed, and the Music Bronze is incredibly emotive with an even more expansive soundstage than the Music Blue.
Dragon Cable Recommendation: We recommend pairing the Technics SL-1210GR Turntable with our Bronze Dragon Interconnect Cable (RCA connectors) to integrate the turntable into your existing audio system setup. Our top-of-the-line copper-based interconnect, the Bronze Dragon offers a balanced and musical sound with excellent bass control. The braided geometry in this design acts as a noise rejection barrier, making this an especially quiet cable for pro audio as well as home use.

Exceptional Performance and Build Quality
Built with premium materials, the Technics SL-1210GR Turntable ensures durability and longevity. The heavy-duty platter achieves high rigidity and vibration-damping characteristics by using a two-layer construction with deadening rubber applied to the entire rear surface of the aluminum die-cast to eliminate the unnecessary resonance that is otherwise relayed to the record, thereby producing clear sound. To increase the inertial mass and reduce vibration, the shape of the aluminum die-cast portion was optimized by simulation. At 2.5 kg (including the rubber mat), the SL-1210GR2 platter is 0.8 kg heavier than that of the previous SL-1200MK5 Turntable. Also, the back surface of the platter has strengthening ribs added to improve rigidity. Increasing the surface area of contact with the deadening rubber achieves damping characteristics that are more than twice those of the SL-1200MK5. Specially designed Silicone Insulators support the body ensuring high vibration damping characteristics and long-term reliability. The turntable also uses gold-plated phono terminals for detachable cables, while metal shielding construction inside the case reduces the effects of external noise. Additionally, the high-torque motor ensures quick start-up and precise control for various vinyl applications.
New ΔΣ Drive and Coreless Direct-Drive Motor System
Since inventing the world’s first direct drive turntable in 1970 that quickly took the world by storm, Technics has continued to work to improve sound quality and deliver exceptional performance and playback. Unlike belt drive and other systems, direct drive systems rotate the motor at low speeds and directly drive the platter, thus providing numerous advantages, such as the almost complete absence of degradation in S/N ratio due to motor vibration and deceleration mechanisms, as well as high reliability over a long period time because of not requiring parts replacement.
In 2016, Technics developed the twin-rotor, surface-facing, coreless direct drive motor with rotor magnets placed on both sides, thereby eliminating the rotation irregularity of the motor, referred to as "cogging," which was a unique issue for direct drive systems. This motor was adopted for the SL-1200G Turntable, which once again drew a significant response in the hi-fi market. The SL-1210GR2 inherits the same design philosophy with the new development of a single-rotor, surface-facing, coreless direct drive motor, resulting in the elimination of cogging.
It has now developed the ΔΣ-Drive (Delta Sigma Drive), which suppresses minute vibrations from the motor and improves the electromagnetic conversion accuracy of the cartridge. The first stage of direct-drive turntable systems featuring this technology is the SL-1210GR2. The ΔΣ-Drive is a new system that applies Technics’ expertise in PWM signal processing. In addition to reducing high harmonics, the new drive suppresses vibrations from the motor for smoother, more accurate rotation, ensuring a rich reproduction of the music.
Tonearm Achieving High Initial-Motion Sensitivity
The tonearm of the Technics SL-1210GR Turntable is meticulously designed to minimize resonance and provide excellent tracking. The traditionally used static-balance universal S-shaped tonearm employs an aluminum pipe with excellent light weight and rigidity for the material of the tonearm pipe. With its gimbal suspension construction, the anti-skating tonearm bearing section uses a cut-processed housing that employs high-precision bearings, as in the SL-1200G and SL-1200GR Turntables. The high initial-motion sensitivity of 5 mg or less is achieved through manual assembly and adjustment by skilled Japanese artisans. This enables the grooves etched into the records to be accurately traced.
In addition, one type of auxiliary weight comes included, and the cartridge can be swapped with a variety of other cartridges to match the music genre or feeling. (Applicable cartridge weight when using the supplied auxiliary weight: 10 - 16.4 g (not including the supplied head shell)
Multi-Stage Silent Power Supply
The Technics SL-1210GR Turntable uses a high-speed switching power supply to ensure a stable supply capacity and less ripple and humming. Applying a switching power supply to a turntable eliminates the need for a large transformer and countermeasures for the ensuing mechanical vibrations. A switching frequency of above 100kHz limits the impact of noise on the music playback bandwidth.
Also implemented into the Technics turntable is current injection active noise canceling technology. This technology combines a noise detection device with an error amplifier. It detects residual noise in the power supply and applies an inverse phase current to remove noise components. It removes low frequency noise more effectively than a regulator to ensure a more ideal power supply.

FAQ
How do I reduce external vibration and noise when using the Technics SL-1210GR Turntable?
To reduce external vibration and unwanted noise make sure to place the SL-1210GR Turntable on a stable and level surface away from speakers and other vibration-causing devices to minimize unwanted disturbances. Use the adjustable insulators at the bottom of the unit to ensure the turntable is perfectly horizontal and away from direct sunlight, excessive humidity, and heat sources like heating appliances. By meticulously following these guidelines, you can significantly reduce external vibration and noise, thereby ensuring optimal performance and sound quality from your Technics SL-1210GR2 turntable.
