Cable Etiquette: Storing Headphones

Tips and Tricks for properly storing your hifi headphones and cables to prevent damage and maintain a long lifespan.

Transcript

The number-one failure point in cables is at the headphone connectors. Improper storage drastically reduces the lifespan of a cable. Kinks are a tell-tale sign of internal wear, like frayed or broken strands. Never store cables with 90-degree bends.

Remove detachable cables and neatly coil for storage. On headphone stands, fully retract the headband and tilt the cups forward. Or drape over a headphone hanger, allowing the cable to hang lower than the cups.

With proper care, even well-used cables can last decades. (Some of our demo cables are 14-years old.)
