Sony scrapped the previous generation's look and redesigned the entire chassis of the WF-1000XM5 earbuds opting for a smoother, sleeker-looking bud design that fits more like a universal IEM than previous models. The earbuds now sit more inside the crevasses of your ear, providing a more stable, comfortable fit. A secure fit is essential for noise isolation. The WF-1000XM5 earbuds come with 4 different-sized ear tips made of a unique polyurethane foam material, instead of commonly-used silicone, reducing noise in the high-frequency range.
By downsizing the earbud body and optimizing the placement of the components, Sony has made the WF-1000XM5 earbuds 25% smaller and 20% lighter than the WF-10000XM4 model. The size of the charging case has also been reduced to fit more sleekly in your pocket. The charging case features a fast-charge capability that allows the earbuds to provide up to one hour of playback time after just three minutes of charging. On a full charge, the WF-1000XM5 earbuds can give you up to eight hours of playback, and up to 24 hours playback with the case. The Sony | Headphones Connect app will notify you when your wireless charging case drops below 30%. On the back of the charging case, you'll find a USB-C charging port along with the sync button for setting up Bluetooth connections.
